Roy Urrutia
Roy Urrutia has been the manager of public affairs of the Atmos Energy West Texas Division since 1997. Atmos Energy West Texas Division provides natural gas to 77 communities and with a customer base of approximately 311,000. Atmos Energy West Texas Division is part of the Atmos Energy Corporation which is the largest natural-gas-only distributor. Its utility operations serve 3.2 million natural gas customers in 12 states. Its nonutility operations include gas marketing, pipeline, gathering and storage serving industrial customers, municipalities and producers in 22 states.
Urrutia began his career with the gas industry as meter reader with Pioneer Natural Gas Company in 1976. In 1979 he was promoted to service technician and then later became a senior service technician. In 1987 he was promoted into the management trainee program with Energas Company. In 1990 he became customer accounts supervisor in Lubbock and then in 1991 as a service foreman in Amarillo. In 1992 was named town manager of Levelland, Texas.
A native of Lubbock, Texas, Urrutia graduated from high school in 1969 and has attended South Plains College.
Urrutia has long been active in civic, charitable and industry organizations. He serves on the Southern Gas Association Communications committee, United Way Governing Board, the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs Council, Amarillo Opera Board of Trustees, Amarillo Area Foundation and the Eveline Rivers Christmas Project.
Urrutia has three grown children.
